Morning Skincare Routine

Thursday, July 17, 2014

My morning routine is pretty simple, I keep the heavy duty things for night time as that's the time your skin is really at work :) So to sum it up : cleanse, tone, moisturize!

Just a reminder : I have sensitive, acne-prone, combo to oily skin. I do NOT have perfect skin.

**Disclaimer : I am not a dermatologist or skin expert, these are just some of the products I use to help with my skin and I am still looking for perfection

(you can click on the product names for more details!)

Lately I have been using the Aveeno Positively Radiant Daily Cleansing pads (9-11$CA). They're alright... They're supposed to have two textures to them to gently exfoliate or something? Both sides feel the same on my face, and the pad foams up quite a bit so the pad itself is a bit useless...The cleanser itself tingles a bit but leaves my face feeling clean and smooth. I didn't notice any brightening or fading of some acne scars as I have with other products from this line in the past. Bottom line it does the job, but it's nothing special.

I actually just ran out this morning so I might just use my night time cleanser or pick  up something new up!

I just use my magic potion, you can read all about it and get the recipe HERE ! :)

Eye cream:

My eye area gets reaaallyy dry, and I have recurring eczema on my left eye. I like to use something that will hydrate but won't irritate the sensitive skin around there!

I have been using the La Roche Posay's Hydraphase Intense Eyes (their canadian site isn't working but it's around 37$CA). It's a lovely thin clear gel that is meant for dehydrated skin, it's gentle and effective.

If my eczema is really acting up, I add a bit of Aveeno's Eczema Care Moisturizing Cream on those spots. (Yes it's safe to use on the eyes and much better than the cortisone cream I was prescribed)

This part is always trick when you have oily skin, or combo to oily. You may not always feel like you need moisturizer or be afraid that'll turn you into a grease ball, but the more you strip your skin from moisture, the more oil it produces. Here's what I do :

I usually will go right in with a BB cream on a day to day basis. My favorite one the moment is the BB Cream Matte from Rimmel (7-9$CA). You can read my full review on this product HERE.

However, if I'm going to apply a full face of makeup (with primer + foundation) or if my skin is a bit drier that day and I feel my BB won't be enough, I'll use a lightweight moisturizer such as :

Kiehl's Ultra Facial Oil-Free Gel Cream (32$CA) : This lightweight moisturizer is the bomb dot com. It goes on feeling a bit sticky but soaks right up in the skin and leaves you feeling moisturize but keeps shine at bay. This product really helps to balance my skin out.

TONYMOLY's Dr.Tony AC Control Emulsion (19.99$CA) : This one is SUPER lightweight, has a nice smell to it, and is perfect for oily skin. However, my skin is technically "combo" so some days I feel it doesn't moisturize quite enough.

ALSO if I am just wearing BB, sometimes I'll still kick it up a notch with my Dr. Dennis Gross concentrates I just mix it right in with my BB cream before applying to my face!

Such a mixologist :P I really do feel like a mad scientist at times, my beauty room is my lab. MOUAHAHA (okay let's carry on!)

I might do a full review on those as there is a lot to talk about and explain with those. Let me know if you're interested!

It's important to moisturize your lips too! Especially if you're gonna wear a lip color that day.

Let me introduce you to Nuxe Rêve de Miel Lip Balm (17$CA).

This is BY FAR the best lip balm of life. However it doesn't have SPF...You can always top it with an SPF lip balm once that one has sinked in.

But yeah that's pretty much it! What do you guys use? Leave your products in the comments below!

I'll catch you guys on the flip side ;)
