Special Skincare

Happy Monday lovelies!

At the end of last week we talked about the skincare I used morning and night, but there's quite a few things that need to be mentioned, that are some series regulars, just not leading roles.

Tool:
First and foremost, my Clarisonic. I just have the regular Clarisonic Mia (139$CA) and it changed my life (yes I'm a bit dramatic, but it is a game changer). I used mine with the Deep Pore Brush (49$CA for two, they need to be changed every 2 or 3 months) and I pretty much just use it whenever I feel my skin needs it. For me, as of lately, it's not EVERY night, as I find it to be too much, but I'll most likely use it every other night. For some reason, I don't like using in the morning.

You can choose from several brushes, so this is a tool that can answer to anyone's needs I feel. Once you figure out which brush works best for you, and how often you should use it, you will notice a difference in your skin. Not only that, but a difference in how your other products work.

The Clarisonic promise:
- Removes makeup six times better than traditional methods.
- Clears pores and reduces the appearance of pore size.
- Cleanses so thoroughly that skincare products absorb better.
- Creates noticeably healthier looking skin.

It may not be a NECESSITY (for me it is), but if you have been thinking about it, you do have to look at it as an investment for your skin, and it IS worth it. Those cheaper spinning brush just won't cut it if you're expecting those results.

Special Cleanser:
Now I mentioned I don't use acne cleansers on the reg, because my skin is too sensitive, but every now and then, I'll use the extra boost. I like the Murad Clarifying Cleanser (26$CA), when I am breaking out. I'll clean my face with it at night, maybe once or twice a week, again, just when I feel my skin needs it.

It has "encapsulated salicylic acid [that] provides a sustained release of medication for hours of acne treatment, even after rinsing". So the tingling sensation lasts, and makes me feel like it is working. I just don't use it as my regular night time cleanser, as I feel it would dry out my skin.

Exfoliators:
I use them as regularly as I use face masks (2-3 time a week), precisely right before. I like to prep my skin with a good exfoliation (clearly not on the nights where I have use the Clarisonic). Depending how intense I want of a an exfoliation, I alternate between :

Kiehl's Epidermal Re-Texturizing Micro-Dermabrasion (56$CA), for a more gentle exfoliation.
Ole Henriksen's Walnut Complexion Scrub (30$CA) for a more thorough one, though it is also gentle, I just feel it'll remove more effectively the flakes (i.e If my skin is a bit "peely" from a recent breakout). I never want to like to feel like I'm scrapping off my skin.

Every now and then, in the morning, or before a special event, I'll use a brightening scrub. Lately I've just been using the St.Ives Even & Bright Pink Lemon & Madarin Orange Scrub (around 5$CA). It is SUPER gentle (almost feels like it's not scrubbing at all), smells heavenly, and leaves my skin a bit brighter. Nothing dramatic, I'm not instantly glowy, but a tiny little boost.

Face Masks:
This comes to no surprise, about 2-3 times I'll treat myself to a face mask. More often than none it'll be the :

Kiehl's Rare Earth Pore Cleansing Masque (27$CA), you can read my review HERE.

Also mentioned, if I don't really have the time to do a whole facial, but it is a "face mask night" I'll go to my Freeman's "Feeling Beautiful" Charcoal & Black Sugar Facial Polishing Mask (around 4$CA). In that case, I would obviously not use a scrub before. You can read my review HERE.

To follow up with the brightening scrub, the every now and then routine, I like to use the TONYMOLY's Tomatox White Massage Pack (9.99$CA), mentioned in my Korean beauty store haul. You can read more about it HERE.

Serums:
The truth is, I'm still searching for the right serum for me. I love the ones that I have right now, but I can't use them every night as they make me break out after a while. I have however still noticed a difference in my skin. So I will just mention them quickly :

Origin's Mega-Bright Skin Tone Correcting Serum (69$CA). It leaves my skin feeling like a just applied a mattifying primer, so it's very smooth, but also not moisturizing at all..It has helped with some of my acne scarring, but again it makes me break out sooo ya know!

The one that I can use a bit more often, but still not sold on, is the one from my Dr.Dennis Gross Clinical Concentrate Boosters (70$CA, and wo! They went up in price?! Not cool.) I have mentioned before. I'll use the Radiance Booster as an all over serum (mainly at night, but you could also use it in the morning).

If I find the perfect serum, or one that I can feel REALLY comfortable recommending, I'll let you know ASAP!

Thanks for sticking around for this heavy post! Hope you enjoyed it :)

I'll catch you guys on the flip side ;) (Ok seriously, I need a new line)
