Overview | Rimmel Moisture Renew Lipsticks

Friday, August 1, 2014

Hello lovelies!

Sooo I don't know where I have been because I've never owned a Rimmel lipstick before, but I saw a stand in the drugstore and went a wee bit crazy.

I believe the Moisture Renew Lipsticks were around for a while but they sort of relaunched them? Packaging? Formula? Who knows, what ever "New and Improved" means!

And why else would they relaunch products in nice shiny stands? To get suckers like me!

But quite frankly, I don't feel like a sucker, because A) They're affordable, B) They're a creamy dream, C) This pasty white girl finally found the perfect nude!

SO WHO'S THE SUCKER NOW?!

Ok, cool, calm, collected, let's get to business.

To make it acceptable to buy new lipsticks, I reasoned with myself : "You know what you're missing? A good nude". So in attempt to do so I got 3 shades that I thought might work, and along the way also bought 2 "Signature Val" shades... Oopsy :P

505 Red Alert : A vibrant  slightly orangy red
360 As You Want Victoria : A deep berry pink
630 Coral Britannia : A very light peachy coral
705 Let's Get Naked : A nude rose
700 Nude Delight :  An orangy beige nude

The promise : "Moisturizes lips without compromising on colour! Vitamin A,C,E enriched formula that drenches lips in intense colour and moisture. Ultra lightweight, comfortable to wear all day."

The verdict:
Packaging : 4/5 Sleek and girly, I quite like the purple, though it's not chic or anything
Color selection : 4/5 Offers a nice range of 25 shades, from nudes, to pinks, to reds. No vampy shades or anything too bold though.
Color payoff : 5/5 Saturated to perfection, color goes on as it should in one easy swipe
Texture: 5/5 Soooo creamy, just glides on the lips, wonderfully moisturizing, the most moisturizing lipstick I've ever tried in fact.
Longevity: 4/5 The brighter/darker shades definitely stain the lips giving it a longer wear but over all they stay pretty well. They do transfer (made my boyfriend pretty) BUT nothing major, just keep it in your purse for touch ups :)
Final score : 4.4/5

Now there are some shades I regret buying (it's what happens when they are no testers) but only because they don't suit ME. I'm sure I'll find them a caring and loving adoptive mother. But I'm glad I found Let's Get Naked (and not just cause of the name) cause I can finally rock a nude lip. Also, Red Alert & As You Want Victoria will definitely be new classics in my collection :) LOOOVE!

Overall, color me impressed! If you're looking for an affordable quality lipstick (6-8$CA), definitely check those out and let me know which shades you get!

Talk to you soon ;)

-Val
