Product Review | Physician's Formula Eye Booster Instant Lash Extension Kit

You've probably all heard about the Younique mascara ; a set that uses mascara and fibers to give you out of this world lashes. I've never been drawn to it. My lashes are naturally pretty long and thick, so a good mascara is really all I need for dramatic results. Plus I'm lazy, so the thought of going back in forth with two products is not appealing. I also heard, from people who don't like it (which are rare) that it gets EVERYWHERE, including IN your eyes. I was sure this would happen to me, and I'd like to keep my eyesight please!

That being said, the Younique mascara I believe is around $30 and I'm pretty sure you have to get it through one of their representatives. Ain't nobody got time for that!

When I saw the Physician's Formula Lash Extension kit at the drugstore for $15, I thought maybe I should get off my lazy ass and at least try that one. Easy access and half the price? Okay, I'll give it a chance.

WARNING! LIFE changing DIY lash extensions....Okay there Physician's Formula. As you can see the claims are pretty bold, and of course they took a model with blonde lashes but that are actually long and full...Clearly the results are more "shocking" this way!

As mentioned, the kit comes with a tube of mascara and a tube of black fibers. The packaging is really cool, and the mascara itself I knew I would like on it's own right off the bat, so nothing to lose right? Here's a little close up of everything:

So it all looks very shiny and exciting, but let's walk through the process and results shall we?

Below I have just the mascara on both eyes, and obviously applied the fibers on the eye on the left. Notice how it also got on my forehead somehow, not to mention IN my eyes as feared, and man, it's like getting a million tiny lashes in your eyes. The worst! And it took like 15 minutes to get comfortable again. Important to mention...

And here are the results after doing one coat of mascara, one coat of fibers, one coat of mascara, another coat of fibers and one last coat of mascara (YES, I know, it's freakin' long). Oh and I had actually cleaned up a bit in between steps, so it does get messier than this. I would highly advise you apply your foundation and concealer AFTERWARDS. You can pretty much just sweep off the fibers with a big fluffly brush.

And just to give you better reference, and a bit cleaner final results (still quite a bit of fibers but you know) ; here is the legitimate before & after shot. *My lashes are curled with an eyelash curler in the before shot.

Now here's the thing, it's not that it's a bad mascara, in fact it's quite good. But the truth is the results aren't AMAZINGLY more impressive than any other regular "dramatic" mascara. By no means did this give the results of lash extensions. Maybe I'm doing it wrong, but it's long and messy and you have to be extra careful for clumps and MY EYES, OH GOD MY EYES**. On a more positive note, I must admit staying power (claims to last 24H! But I won't test that) was good with this; no smudging or flaking, and despite it feeling sorta heavy on the lashes (like you KNOW you have mascara on) it didn't weigh down the lashes terribly as in it does a decent job at holding a curl. I definitely think I'll keep using the mascara on it's own, but I don't know if I can be bothered with this process for barely more intense results...

Bottom line, this is not a MUST try product, but if you're curious to see how it performs on you, I mean go ahead!

Have you tried the Younique mascara? Maybe I would like that one better, but again; laaaaazyyy and my eyes are terrified!

Well, I'll talk to you soon!
