Product Review | Tarte Showstopper Palette

Monday, May 4, 2015

I got this Tarte Showstopper palette (yes I know, another palette...I have problems!!) during the VIB sale at Sephora. In my defense, I needed (well wanted) a good all around palette to travel with since we have a few out of town weddings coming up. I know travel friendly is always a "pro" I mention with all other compact palettes that have been showcased recently, but this one is tiny, has eye shadows, blush, bronzer and highlighter! It doesn't get much better than that!

For $38/46$CA, You get six eyeshadows ; Showstopper Copper (bronze copper), Go for the Gold (gold), You’re a Natural (nude), Steel the Scene (steel taupe), Rose to the Top (rose gold) and Dim the Lights (black brown). And then a blush in Fame (warm peach), a bronzer in Park Ave Princess and a highlighter in Champagne Pink.

I've actually never owned an "all in one" palette, so I was very excited.
I think this palette is really well thought out and perfect for everyday looks and glammed up nights out on the town!

I hesitated between the Poppy Picnic palette and this one, but I am 100% positively happy I chose this one. The Poppy Picnic, offers 6 matte neutral eye shadows (booooring, I have the Tartelette palette you know?) and a blush. So not only was the shadow selection more interesting to me with the Showstopper, it was also more convenient (bronzer + highlighter). I mean if you own the Tartelette palette, bring that and a blush, you'll lose a liiiiitle extra space, big whoop. If you own and love the Poppy Picnic palette, my apologies, this is just my reasoning/opinion.

I think this might be limited edition, but even if it goes out of stock, they will either restock or bring it back around in a while like they did with the Rainforest After Dark palette (which is another great option, simply depends what colors you prefer).

ALL THAT being said, let's get down to business with swatches, specs and thoughts!

Okay, can Tarte PLEASE get with the program and stop putting these freakin' plastic sheets inserts with the names for each pan. I seriously can't deal. Why? Find space to print it ON the palette because ain't nobody got time for that!

Beyond that, love love love. I much prefer the texture of these to the Tartelette, even the matte ones (You're A Natural, Dim The Lights) go figure? And can we talk about that rose gold?? Rose To The Top is by far my favorite color in the palette. I DIE! Like I mentioned, the color selection makes it very versatile, but you gotta like a little shimmer. It's not like any of them have chunky glitter or are particularly blingy either...Plus you can also use the blush, highlighter and bronzer as an eye shadows, so Park Ave Princess gives you an extra a matte color!

I think the blush and highlighter can work well with several skin tones, however I feel that the bronzer is on the lighter side (which is perfect for my fair skin) so keep that in mind you have  a more medium/dark skin tone.

The lasting power of all of these is off the hook! So it's really perfect for summer.

Overall, I'm super excited about this palette and I highly recommend it, the format is just perfection. Kinda makes want to get the Rainforest After Dark palette , but you know, I gotta have SOME self control!

  1. My first thougt was "it's huge" and then I read your "this one is tiny" - couldn't help but laugh. Though you're right, considering the amount you get it is tiny =)

  2. Hahah well it actually is really tiny! Maybe because the photos are "close up" it might look bigger? I also have disturbingly tiny hands, so it's not the greatest reference haha I don't know if you know how tiny the Naked Basics is, but here they are side to side!
