Too Faced Star Dust By Vegas Nay Collection | Review & Swatches

Wednesday, September 9, 2015

Well hello honey bunnies, it's been a minute! And today I am super excited and/or over did it with the coffee but HEY! Happy Hump Day! Let's get to business.

Now, if you didn't know, I'll announce again that Too Faced eyeshadows are my favorite. Ever since I fell in love with the Chocolate Bar Palette, nothing else has ever compared for me (close, but no cigar, you know?).

It may not seem like it to outsiders, but I DO try to restrain myself to not get every single palette that comes out haha If you actually knew how many things have been in my cart but never made it to checkout, you'd give me a medal or an award of some sort, I swear! I'd like to thank the Academy of Insufficient Funds...Ok, but seriously.

Having gotten the Urban Decay Naked Smoky Palette fairly recently, and making good use of it, I thought I could hold off till the end of the year in that department. WRONG. When I saw the new Star Dust by Vegas Nay box set, the shadows were whispering sweet nothings in my ear and I couldn't resist. Now, who's Vegas_Nay? Only the biggest Instagram makeup sensation...Did I know that? Absolutely not. I know...HOW?? Anyways, safe to say I wasn't dazzled by the "celebrity" behind it but I totally follow her now, and so should you.

That being said, the whole packaging thing is a bit of an eye sore. It comes it this bulky box, but includes tons of goodies.

Once you open that chunky monkey, each side is it's own little box. On the right you get the Glamour Dust Glitter Pigment, a little Shadow Insurance Primer and Better Than Sex Mascara, and "how to" little look cards.

I personally think this little extra side is quite neat, and adds a lot of value and more bang for your buck.

But let's get to the star of the show. On the left side you get the palette, which is a slim version of the "packaging box".

TAAADAAAA!! Purples and rich browns? I am SO in. Plus Sin City is the most perfect matte black...The color selection is just wonderful, a beautiful array of shades that I tend to gravitate towards.

Still swooning. These shadows are on point with the Too Faced quality ; buttery, creamy, smooth, intensely pigmented, long lasting, minimal fall out. These swatches are all from one swipe and with no primer! Like seriously, I just can't even.

As mentioned, I'm biased by the color selection because it's right up my alley. It's not something completely unique, if you have the Chocolate Bar or any other palette that offers warm neutrals and fun colors, it's not a must have, but I think it's really well thought out. If I were to curate my own palette, I don't think I could do a much better job you know? Maybe switch out some of the highlight shades for richer matte ones for better balance? But overall, aces! I'm getting a lot of use out of the palette already. I do not like the packaging though, since it's just like a paper back book...As someone who leaves her makeup near the sink and isn't the most delicate person, I don't know how well this will hold up haha Also makes it less ideal for traveling; yes it's slim, but it's not sturdy and if your shadows shatter, so would your heat ....Well mine would, but I'm also a tad dramatic! :P

The set retails for $45 and I believe it is a Too Faced/Ulta exclusive, as in not available at Sephora. The value is pretty amazing considering you get 12 quality shadows, the Glamour Dust Glitter Pigment and the little mini sizes of their Shadow Insurance Primer and Better Than Sex Mascara. I still don't know what to do with the pigment, I'm not a very glitzy person, but I'll try it!

Wether you're a Vegas_Nay fan or not, if you're a makeup junkie like me, I definitely recommend getting your hands on this baby while you can!

Talk to you soon!

-Xoxo, Val
