Makeup Look | Halloween 2015

Thursday, November 5, 2015

Hello lovelies,

So again, I've been MIA... In a way I guess I'm still recovering from Halloween? haha No but seriously I woke up with a huge bug bite on my face the next day (it's fine now) which was the first of a series of misadventures (got a cold which I'm still dealing with, so the energy level has been at an all time low, got a huge bump/bruise on my nose from playing with the dogs and a pretty bad burn from accidentally elbowing the hot crock pot...)

Needless to say, this is going up later than planned BUT I wanted to do a Halloween post. Thing is, I am so upset with myself, because I worked so hard on my costume (well, makeup) and I didn't even manage to get good photos of it...FAIL. I think I was too caught up in the excitement. I did get a few iPhone shots though, so we WILL still talk about it okay? Okay! ;

As you can hopefully tell, I went as Lady Beetlejuice. If you can't tell, well, I'm gonna walk you through it and you'll get it.

Starting with the outfit, it wasn't perfect because the stripes don't match up, but I wanted to keep it inexpensive so I got this striped button down shirt and midi skirt from Forever 21. Together, they cost me just over $30 and theoretically I can wear both these pieces again (not as a set obviously).

On to the fun part, let's talk makeup ;

Eyes :
Coastal Scents 88 Original Palette - Nothing screams Halloween (or high school memories) like this palette. An array of colors perfect for any look. Not the best quality but for the purpose and price? A great deal!

NYX Jumbo Eye Pencil in Black Bean - Because the shadows are not the most pigmented, I used this as a base. Super creamy and easy to blend and good lasting power.

Face:
Mehron Liquid Latex - This was the most important part of the look. It's also cheap and easy to use! Yay! I applied it with a porous sponge and then just picked at it with my fingers, once dried, to get the desired texture.

Floral Moss - I ordered this from Amazon and applied it with eyelash glue for extra effect/realism/texutre whatever you want to call it haha It looked really cool and stayed on all night (I was surprised)

Various Costume Makeup - I just went to my local costume shop and drugstore and got different face paints. I applied them with the same porous sponge for a cool effect. For detailing, I then went back it with a tiny pencil brush and "earthy" colors from the Coastal Scents palette.

Lips:
Colourpop Ultra Matte Lip in Kapow - The truth is the whole thing looked better with concealer on the lips and a dust of grey shadow on and around but realistically that wasn't going to survive a party. Since this is a matte liquid lipstick, it wasn't going to go anywhere, and in the end it was quite fitting for the look and not sure when else I could have rocked this lip color!

For the hair, I tried to make it look messy but...my hair was just "unmessable" that night (first world problem haha). Messy bun was the best I could do and I added lots of hairspray and product, some of that white tube makeup, green and silver color spray. In retrospect, I would have gotten a wig, but it did give the look a more glam twist? haha

PLEASE tell me what your Halloween costume was! Comment below, share pictures, post on the Facebook Page, whatever you like! I'm dying to see before we move on to Christmas mode!

That's it for now! Sorry it's been a lame week on the blog but life happens amirite?

I'll talk to you soon!
-Xoxo, Val
