Product Review | No.7 Lift & Luminate Foundation

Tuesday, December 8, 2015

This was way overdue! I mentioned this in my last Favorites and I've been using this foundation almost (because I don't wear makeup on the daily) every day for the past 2 months or so? And it's very rare for me to be this consistent with a foundation...I usually have an array of them and use different ones for different things, you know?

I wasn't even looking for a new foundation, but I was at Target and talking to the Boots brand representative. Girlfriend knew her shit! (I don't remember her name...but hey girl hey!) and we were rambling like giddy little girls. POINT IS, her skin was a glowing and beautiful and I wanted that. She told me it was all thanks to the star of this article ; No7 Lift & Luminate Foundation SPF 15

Problem is, she had dry skin. I told her about my concern since I have combo/oily skin, and she assured me this was great on all skin types. I took her word for it and she color matched me to the shade Cool Ivory. The finish and color was so natural and seamless, I had to give it a try.

It looks good no matter how you apply it, but after extensive testing, I would say for the best results, just go in with your fingers. The product really melts into the skin this way. The texture is almost whipped-like when you pump it out. But the feel, texture, and finish of it is very reminiscent of BB Cream.

As you can see from the before & after picture below, this offers a light coverage that is somewhat buildable (you can tap back on areas that need a little TLC) ;

This is just one layer (one pump) with no added concealer or powder or anything. You can still see my freckles through it (which I like) but it does a good job at evening out the skin tone and brightening everything up. It's similar in results to the Physician's Formula Touch Of Glow Foundation but creamier and caters to more skin tones. It also feels like lighter and not foundation like at all. It has a very "skin care" feel to it, just like BB cream, as I've mentioned. What I mean, is that it feels good on the skin, sorta like a light moisturizer, and it doesn't break me out or anything. This is the perfect everyday foundation!

You don't want to powder too much with this because then you'll get rid of the "luminosity" this product offers. It's not dewy, or shiny, or anything scary, just a beautiful healthy glow. Slightly powder the areas where you get oily to extend the wear and honestly it holds up pretty fantastically!

Should you want more coverage, it mixes great with the Cover FX Custom Cover Drops, but obviously the finish is a bit less natural. That's what I use for nights out or photos or for whatever you might want to cover EVERYTHING up. If you'd like to see how that works, I could do a separate post...

Let's break it down peeps;
Finish : 5/5 Beautiful healthy looking, natural finish. Pretty much undetectable to the naked eye. Like your skin, but better, you know? LOVE.
Color match : 5/5   I found my exact match so the score might be biased but this foundation comes in a wide variety of shades so chances are you can find yours too!
Performance/Longevity : 4/5 Because it's not a mattifying foundation, it won't last AS long as those catered to oily skin. BUT, with primer and a light dusting of powder it holds up several hours. When you get shiny, it doesn't look a cakey mess either, still looks natural, so just blot and move on with your day!
Price : 4/5 This is on the pricier side of the drugstore foundations ($15) but it looks and feels so luxurious (it has a pump and everything!), so I don't really feel ripped off...If anything, should they sell it at Sephora, they could easily charge me $40-50 and I'd still think it's a great deal haha

Final score : 4.5/5

Bottom line, I am absolutely in love with this foundation but it took me a while to figure out how I prefer using it (application, primers, powders, concealers, etc.) to get the most out of this product. So worth it though! And I really do think it can cater to all skin types. Definitely on my list of top foundations.

Let me know if you've used this and what your thoughts are!

Talk to you soon!
-Xoxo, Val
