Hey guys, it's been a minute! If you didn't know yet, I've been busy starting my YouTube channel, and posting regularly on there...There's also a video up with more details on these favorites. Make sure you SUBSCRIBE! ;)

But here is a list of my latest beauty obsessions!

Sunday Riley Power Couple Duo : Total Transformation Kit -  So I had been wanting to try the Luna Sleeping Night Oil  and the Good Genes All-In-One Lactic Acid Treatment for a long time now. I had received a sample of the Sleeping Oil, and after the first use, I decided to cave. Luckily for me, I found this kit for $85 (each full size product is $105).

As expected, the oil is freakin' amazing. Formulated with retinol and blue tansy, it helps "[improve] skin plumpness and helps fight the appearance of wrinkles, redness, and pores". I use this bad boy every single night and it's done me good. I will be purchasing the full size when I run out.

As for the Good Genes Treatment, I had trouble figuring out the best use for it. It definitely exfoliates and declogs my pores but the formula felt a bit greasy. At first, I was using it at night, on top of the sleeping oil, but then I tried using Good Genes during the day, and just the oil at night. I was getting better results this way, especially when I was breaking out. I then figured I like it best used sparingly (every other day or less) and/or as a spot treatment at night, after the oil has sinked in. So yeah, I like it, but I don't LOVE it. Not sure I would spend $105 on a spot treatment, you know? I'm glad I tried it, but I most likely won't be repurchasing it.

August 2016 Favorites

I know I was late with my last favorites and it hasn't been a month...But you know me. I GOT MORE TO SHARE!

a picture of beauty favorites from August 2016 Favorites
Marrakesh Leave in Treatment & Detangler - I pretty much just searched for a detangler on Amazon because my hair was constantly a mess and got this based on the reviews. I kid you not, when my hair gets a little too long (I'm due for a haircut big time), no matter how much conditioner I use and how often I brush, in no time it turns into ONE giant knot. Disaster. I spray this on damp hair and brush out with the most ease (yes even if it's a big lump of wet hair all tangled together) and it conditions my hair so beautifully. No knots, no breakage, just healthy hair. This is probably the most life changing hair product I've ever used, though I'm really not an expert in that department since I'm pretty low maintenance with my hair. So take it for what you will, but I can never go without this again.

Revlon Ultra HD Matte Lipcolor | New Shades

Thursday, September 1, 2016

Hello Lovelies! Now I've already reviewed the Revlon Ultra HD Matte Lip Color Lipsticks in the past, which you can check out HERE!

But I literally have never been so impulsive (possibly an exaggeration, we all know I have a problem haha), when I walked by a display (that I had probably passed a dozen time in the past, but never noticed the added shades), and finally laid my eyes on NEW beauties. I, like a wild animal, without analyzing anything, just started ripping the display apart and picking some up, like a bomb was about to go off in the store, and it was now or never if I wanted more of these.
a picture of Revlon Ultra HD Matte Lipcolor ; Intensity, Crush, Infatuation
Now, if you remember my biggest disappointment when I first spoke about these, was the color selection, and I only picked up 3 shades. This time around, I had to CONTROL myself to only pick 3 more...Originally there were 8 shades and now there are 16 total, so LOTS to pick from.

Product Review | Too Faced x NikkieTutorials The Power of Makeup Collection

Friday, August 26, 2016

Oh my sweet baby Jesus. This collaboration is everything I dreamed it would be. Do I hate the tacky animal print packaging? Yes (sorry not sorry). I'm sure it translates both parties' taste and personality but honestly, I don't care for the juvenile vibe it gives off. That being said, high school Val would have been all over that shit.
a picture of Too Faced x NikkieTutorials The Power of Makeup Collection
What grown ass Val really cares about, is what's inside the Too Faced The Power of Makeup By NIKKIETUTORIALS, and it is pure awesomeness. This collection includes; a palette with 9 eyeshadows, 2 blushes, 1 bronzer, 1 highlighter AND a deluxe sample of the Better Than Sex mascara (in purple, yaaaass), Shadow Insurance PrimerSketch Marker Liquid Art Eyeliner and Glamour Dust Glitter Pigment. This is going to be very straight forward. I'm a huge fan of Too Faced, and they delivered the quality once again. So now lets give your eyes a feast and you can come to your own conclusion ;)

Brand Overview | New Simple Skincare Products

Tuesday, August 23, 2016

You may already know, but back in July, I was lucky enough to be part of a special sneak peak event for Simple Skincare

So, disclaimer, yes the products in this article were given to me for free, but I was only invited cause I'm a big fan to begin with. I regularly spend my own money on this brand, and I've loved them for YEARS. So there. All opinions are my own.

This PR event was to introduce 3 new products. You might have seen them pop up at your local drugstores. I've been testing them out since then, but wanted to wait until I could form a complete opinion, and until they were easily accessible for you guys!

These products are all about makeup removal, and treating your skin after wearing a full face all day, hence the hashtag #MakeUp4Makeup.

Product Review | Hourglass Vanish Seamless Foundation Stick + Vanishing Foundation Brush

Friday, August 19, 2016

Alright, so I received these products curtesy of Influenster. I've worked with them A LOT, and am finally ready to give my verdict.

I was sent the Hourglass Vanish Seamless Foundation Stick in Vanilla and the Vanishing Foundation Brush to test out. As soon as I yanked them out of the box, I was so excited and tried them out immediately. My skin was not prepped, I put on WAY too much, and long story short, it was a disaster.

I tried yet again the following day, being wary of the amount used and prepping my skin appropriately. A little goes a looong way. I liked how easy it was to blend, as it's super creamy, but you have to work fast and you can't really build this foundation. If you go back over certain areas it will look cakey and gross, but even with a thin layer, I was not a huge fan of the finish. It definitely doesn't vanish...It's very apparent and sorta powdery, but it does offers great coverage, especially considering how little product you should use.

July 2016 Favorites

Welp...Better late than never right? Here's a few things I've been DYING to talk about, most them being things I've been loving for quite a while now, but had yet to mention!

Stila Convertible Color in Peony - This is a cream blush that just livens up the face. Not thick or greasy, great color payoff and lasting power plus it looks great on pretty much everyone! I discovered it thanks to celebrity makeup artist Gita Bass (met her at a PR event for Simple Skincare, which I will tell you all about soon!), who absolutely swears by this stuff!

Product Review | L'Oréal Voluminous Superstar Mascara

Wednesday, July 27, 2016

As you may already know, my biggest makeup addiction is mascara. If a new one is out at the drugstore, I gotta try it. For high end, I tend to show more self control, as I usually get pretty good results from cheaper options. That being said, Too Faced Better Than Sex and Benefit's They're Real, are forever loved.

Alright, getting to the point of this post...In the drugstore realm, a brand that never seems to offer a mascara that steals my heart, is L'Oréal. I keep trying and being underwhelmed (though, I did like the Voluminous Butterfly Sculpt for a natural look). Back when I was in high school, Maybelline had this 2 step mascara that was called something like XXL, and it had that white primer end, and then the black mascara on the other. It was my FAVORITE.

When I saw the L'Oréal Voluminous Superstar Mascara (though I don't even think it's new, I think I'm just late to the party), I thought maybe, just maybe it could replace my high school sweetheart.

Product Review | Anastasia Beverly Hills Modern Renaissance Palette

Tuesday, July 12, 2016

So I hesitated to get this, yet was easily convinced (Hi Eva!). I'm easily swayed, yes I am a sucker, but #noragrets. But seriously, I regret nothing. This palette is GORGEOUS!

The Self-Made palette has rapidly become one of my favorites palette, so I knew the quality would be there. This formula of eyeshadow does not disappoint (on par with Too Faced). The Modern Renaissance palette offers an array of 14 neutral and berry toned shades. Some cool, some warm, some fun. Perfect for the season (and all year round really). Kinda like a beautiful summer sunset, you feel me? Gorge! Oh, and you get a quality brush you'll actually want to use with this palette. So, a good deal indeed.

Recent Favorites | Summer 2016

Thursday, June 16, 2016

Look at me, dropping the ball once more...So I skipped June Favorites, and now we're nearing July...And I have too many things to talk about! So I'm just going to bombard you with my recent favorites and we won't have another clusterfuck post like this until August. Ready? Ok!
a picture of Summer Skincare Favorites; Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water, Nip+Fab Glycolic Scrub Fix, Alba Hawaiian Complexion Balancing Hibiscus Facial Toner
Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water All-in-1 Waterproof Makeup Remover & Cleanser - I thought I would test this out when I ran out of my last bottle of the Simple Micellar Water, but these don't work the same at all. That being said, I don't use it to refresh my skin, or cleanse on lazy mornings as this product is a BIT oily, but that is exactly why it is an excellent makeup remover. For everything. One large exfoliating cotton pad well soaked and boom, effective makeup removal. Of course I do cleanse afterwards like I would with any other product of the sort. I might just pick their regular cleansing water (the non waterproof one in the pink bottle), and see if that could maybe a good substitute for the Simple one...

Perfect Base | DiorSkin Forever Perfect Makeup + Ever Wear Extreme Perfection & Hold Makeup Base

Tuesday, May 17, 2016

I've hesitated talking about these two products because they're a bit on the pricier side. But since using them, they have not failed me, and continue to perform highly, through different skin issues and rising temperatures.

If you're like me, and your skin is less than perfect, but you still like to keep things natural, these very well might be worth the investment...

April 2016 Favorites

Product Review | L'Oreal Voluminous Butterfly Sculpt Mascara

Wednesday, April 20, 2016

Holy Toledo! I thought the day would never come. I, Valerie Spielberg, am in love with a L'Oreal mascara. That's right, I said it, Maybelline is no longer my one (drugstore) true love, I'm sorry boo, it's not me, it's you.

Now listen, Maybelline has always been my main mascara man, I've also had torrid affairs with Covergirl and Rimmel, but L'Oreal never managed to make me stray. However, the L'Oreal Voluminous Butterfly Sculpt Mascara is unlike any other mascara I've ever used before.

Product Review + Makeup Looks | Too Faced Sweet Peach Palette

Wednesday, April 13, 2016

Hip hip hooray! This super hyped up palette was a bitch to get my hands on but, I worked hard (lost a lot of sleep...did I mention I have a problem?) and it's finally mine! Hopefully, it's worth it...You be the judge. Here it goes!
a picture of Too Faced Sweet Peach Palette
a picture of Too Faced Sweet Peach Palette
As you'd expect, the Too Faced Sweet Peach Palette smells amazing (like spring and summer and rainbows and puppies! Not but seriously, it just smells like heavenly peach). The packaging is gorgeous and the colors are really eye catching. Some people are saying the color selection is a bit random, but I believe it to be incredible smart and practical. You get neutrals, warm tones, cool tones and color. I mean sure, I get that not all of them really fit tge "peach theme", but I ain't complaining! Like who cares? It's a great palette to travel with as it might be their most versatile to date (in my personal opinion, I tend to touch more colors in the this palette than any other, and we all know I'm obsessed...So you can imagine!!)

Product Review | Maybelline Dream Velvet Foundation

Wednesday, April 6, 2016

Alright. I've been on a roller coaster ride with this Maybelline Dream Velvet Foundation, so I have quite a bit of rambling to do. If you were curious about this product, buckle up!

First of all, it took 3 tries to find the right shade, and even at that it's not quite a perfect match, but good enough to work with and wear out. Because the packaging doesn't let you see the actual product, you have to rely on the colors painted on there, which aren't super accurate. Also, all shades I've tried either lean towards the pink or orange undertone...But that's my one BIG complaint with this foundation. Could be worse...On the bright side, it doesn't oxidize much?

Latest Obsessions | Tools & Thangs

Wednesday, March 30, 2016

Alright, here is  probably the last in the series of my latest favorites. All about tools, and other goodies that didn't fit so perfectly with either the skincare or makeup category. So here we go!
a picture of Tools & Thangs favorites ; Smashbox Photo Finish Primer, Shiseido Ibuki Quick Fix Mist, Shadow Shields, Color Switch by Vero Mona, Tarteist Sculpt & Slim Contour brush, Charlotte Tilbury Powder & Sculpt Brush, Ardell Individual Lashes

Smashbox Photo Finish Primer Water - I've been going a little spritz crazy lately, but I swear by it. I use this after I've moisturized, and before I prime my face. Yes DOUBLE priming. It's a little boost of hydration and I just feel like it helps the primer. It's also great to spray on your Beauty Blender for smooth makeup application that lasts and lasts!

Shiseido Ibuki Quick Fix Mist - This stuff is the bomb dot com. Yes that's right, I use a spray before and after my makeup...Craziness, I know. But this unique gel formula spray, refreshes and hydrates your skin but dries matte and takes away shine. I use it to set my makeup, and if I need to freshen things up throughout the day. The bottle makes it easy to carry around as well. Combo skinned peeps, rejoice!

Product Review | Too Faced Peanut Butter And Jelly Palette + Makeup Look

Friday, March 25, 2016

Iiiiiit's peanut butter jelly time, peanut butter jelly time, peanut butter jelly time [...] peanut butter jelly time and a baseball bat!

Yeah okay...Not very original but I couldn't help myself. You just have to sing it when you see this Too Faced Peanut Butter And Jelly Palette!

Too Faced nails it yet again. Not only does this palette smell amazing (like sweet peanut butter, sorta like Reese's. URGH SO GOOD!), it delivers the same great pigmentation and quality this brand is known for, with gorgeous warm neutrals and purples.

Latest Obsessions | Makeup

Charlotte Tilbury Filmstar Bronze & Glow (Light to Medium) - This shit is life changing girl. The perfect duo to contour and highlight. Not chalking, not muddy. Perfectly luminous and natural and lasts all day/night. I live for this stuff! It's a bit pricey, but worth every penny, I assure you.

Latest Obsessions | Skincare

Monday, March 14, 2016

Because so much time has passed, I figured instead of keeping on with monthly favorites for now, to just jump in an compile what I've been loving since my absence! BUT because there's so many things, I'm going to break it up into categories. Today we're talking all about skincare, which could also double as (most of) my skincare routine as of late...Brace yourselves!

Morning:
Kensington Apothecary Sake Detox Tonic - I randomly picked this up along with the serum below, while at Whole Foods. The packaging and ingredients just spoke to me. After cleansing, I sweep this all over my face with a cotton pad. The brown rice vinegar keeps things clean and clear, while the mix of other ingredients (full list on the website) help soothe, brighten and ensure you don't dry out your skin. A bit on the pricier side, but such good and organic ingredients and the results are worth every penny.

Kensington Apothecary Skin Serum #4 Blemish Shield - This item seems to no longer be on their official website...I'm not sure if that means it's discontinued or not but I sure hope it isn't! After toning, I apply one drop all over my face and then follow up with moisturizer. With aloe, this is super soothing. It's not thick at all and absorbs quickly into the skin. I feel great knowing I'm creating a blemish fighting barrier before applying makeup. Although, blackcurrant and raspberry leaf are known for their ability to inhibit sebum oxidation, therefore stopping blemishes before they start, this serum is actually quite hydrating. The perfect daytime serum my skin needed.
a picture of Kensington Apothecary Sake Detox Tonic and Skin Serum #4 Blemish Shield
Kiehl's Tumeric & Cranberry Seed Energizing Radiance Masque - I was lucky enough to receive a sample and a full size tub of this mask at a recent event. This is a great morning pick me up if you have the 5-10 minutes needed on your hands. It instantly brightens and refreshes the skin. "Formulated with Cranberry Extract, an antioxidant packed superberry rich in resveratrol and anti-inflammatory Turmeric Extract, this unique mask also contains micronized Cranberry seeds that can be used to gently exfoliate the skin while washing the mask off after use." The seeds can be a little tricky to remove completely with just your hands, so once I'm done exfoliating, I'll rinse off completely with a wet wash cloth. I use this 2-3 times a week.

Product Review | L'Oreal Infallible Pro Matte Gloss

Monday, February 29, 2016

OH MAN IT'S GOOD TO BE BACK!

To say I'm obsessed with this matte lippies is an understatement. LOVE LOVE LOVE 'em! May I introduce (or show you my collection, because you've probably seen these already) the L'Oreal Infallible Pro Matte Gloss.
